AKMA's Random Thoughts

Wayfaring Stranger

There’s no sickness, no toil or danger
In that bright land to which I go
I’m going there to see my mother
She said she’d meet me when I come;
I’m just going over Jordan — I’m just going over home.

Ah, that is a great song by Sixteen Horsepower! But be sure to check their older work. Haw!

I learned (from Burl Ives)
I'm goin' there to see my mother,
I'm goin' there no more to roam
I'm just a-goin' over Jordan.
I'm just a-goin' over home.

I expect there are a number of different version, Mom; I had even typed in a lyric different from either of the ones we quote here. But since I was memorializing Johnny Cash, I thought I’d report the song the way he sang it.
