Let’s see. Donna and the EFF started two new blogs, one of which featured this allusion to non-binary thinking (I’d link to Pascale, but she’s off blogs for Lent).
I’m not satisfied with the way Gary suggests that he’ll implement the BLX standard, so I’d like t round up a few like-minded colleagues and devise BLX 2.0, an all-around better standard. If need be,, we can adopt a different three-letter acronym — but only if matters turn desperate.
David blogged his contribution (Chapter Fourteen) to the Free Culture audiobook project (and Donna has been linking to us, too). Jeneane and George have recorded Chapter 13, but they’re having headaches managing the monster file (it has five-foot tires and crushes Microsoft Word .doc files when it rolls over them). Eric has updated his collection site (not quite all the way; it looks as though he’s missing a few chapters — please feel free to grab the rest, Eric!), and another download site may be opening soon. I’m hoping to have a wrap-up post about the project tomorrow afternoon or evening.
Posted by AKMA at April 1, 2004 10:42 PM | TrackBackHow dare you AKMA! BLX 1.0 is the original standard, there's no need whatsoever for a revision. BLX 1.0 has already been adopted by big media like the National Enquirer and the Daily Sun.
How dare you!
Posted by: Gary Turner at April 2, 2004 07:05 AMMy version of the Afterword is now available:

George Sessum reads Chapter 13, Eldred. Here it is, with an intro by jenna and late night cheerleading by yours truly.
Let me know if this file (33MB) is just too unweildly, and if so, I can upload it in two parts.
thanks!!!
Posted by: jeneane at April 2, 2004 12:41 PMA quick update: I now have a page for my readings from Free Culture, and those now also include the intro to the afterword (so you can cross that off the list too).
It looks like Ch. 10 is the last one to actually get posted. I haven't heard Giles Hoover's voice, but judging from his website, I'm sure his rendition is going to be among the finest.
In any case, I have raw audio lying around for pages 116-135 inclusive. As Lessig says on page 170 (three pages before the actual end of the chapter), "This has been a long chapter". So maybe it would make sense for people to read individual subsections.
If Giles is almost done with his version, then I'm not fantastically motivated to edit and post my twenty pages. Buf if it looks like it's going to be a while, I'd be happy to.
Posted by: Raph Levien at April 2, 2004 03:06 PMAnother update: I've just now posted the first twenty pages of Chapter 10 (31M).
