Does anyone actually use gmail for anything? So far, I don’t, really.
This would make gmail look a whole lot more interesting — but I don’t use Outlook or a Mozilla clone. Is there any way to get from OS X Mail.app to gmail?

Try this Applescript -- http://www.saltedwound.com/archives/002419.php -- modify a couple of variables, and then just wait all afternoon while it forwards ... every ... single ... email in your selected folders (which you choose when you edit the script).
If, like me, you don't want your archived emails cluttering up your Inbox but still want to have Gmail archives, make the Gmail address in the script like youraddress+import@gmail.com and before you send the mail create a filter for all mail sent to youraddress+import and tell it to bypass the inbox and mark read. Then run the script. All that mail will show up in 'All Mail,' but not in the Inbox; it's searchable, filterable, etc.
Good luck!
