U.S. Citizenship is probably not a requirement, when I landed as a permenant resident in the USA I was required to register for the draft. There is no expectation that the American army is a citizen army. (A dour comment to a humorous post ... but hey ... it's monday)

Maybe it's just me, but I somehow doubt that anyone could both qualify for the fitness requirements AND get the security clearance, all while being an accordionist.

E-* ranks do not need to be US citizen. You are definitely strongly encouraged to enter the citizenship track (which is vastly accelerated, one year instead of five) but not required to.
