Number One Son (chronologically — I’m not playing favorites, Si, just making an ancient pop-cult allusion, honest) Nate wants to know whether there’s a way to compel iTunes to list recordings such that they’re ordered primarily by artist name, but secondarily by year, rather than album title. . . .
Posted by AKMA at August 6, 2004 11:35 AM | TrackBackHow about trying to create a "smart playlist" (from the File menu). Check the box "Match the following criteria".
Then select the criteria from the drop downs. "year" then "in the range" then "1900" then "2004". (Obviously you can pick the years you desire). You can then choose to limit the size of the playlist (or not) and also choose selected by 'artist'. A new playlist should be created which does something like what you want, I hope.
You need to first select a playlist from which to create the "smart" one - eg choose "Library" to sort your whole collection.
This is probably not quite what you had in mind, but I think its pretty close. Good luck!
