Sounds like something went south with your database. I’d help, but I’m not much with the database admin.
If it just went away after a while, I’d say it was more likely to be something being done to your database than the database itself. Were you getting an unusually high number of unwelcome comments or trackback pings, or does your MT Activity Log show a trillion searches from someone attacking the search script?
Didn’t seem to be a search script. Michal said, “someone was clogging the database” — which we already knew — but it’s not clear to me just what they were doing.
If it was comments (trackback is, sadly, disabled), the comments themselves didn’t get through. When the siege was over, I had only a couple more comments than when it began.
