The fundraiser for Witness.org featured Flip video cameras, evidently the kind of easily portable cameras with which they equip local media activists. We had a chance to fiddle with the cameras during dinner, and I was very, very impressed. Now, along with wanting to help Witness and its Hub “YouTube for activists” website, I think Margaret and I may Flip.
Thanks for this link to Witness.org, AKMA. In following it, I discovered the featured “Rights Alert”, a video portraying the Myanmar military offensive against civilians in eastern Burma. The people pictured there are the people arriving at our church by the score! The language I heard on the video is Sgaw Karen, the same language in which scripture is now read in our worship each Sunday. We’ve heard some of the stories of our Karen refugee sisters and brothers (though they are very reticent in speaking of the horrors they have experienced.) But seeing the video is a stunning experience. We plan to imbed it in North Shore’s website.
Witness clearly does important work. Thanks again for the link.
